Car Information: | Silver bullet was built by Boyd Coddington in 1977. It was his first Roadster. The 1929 Ford Roadster is all steel. It is a true piece of history, and a total restoration was just completed in 1997. Boyd's Roadster is a combination of traditional styling, contemporary rodding, and innovation. One of the last details you notice, but one which gives the smooth look to the body, id the hand made frame. John Buttera bent the rails to fit the Roadster's contours. All body seams have been filled, and the fender wells smoothed. Boyd built up the cowl to accept a one-peice windshield. A 1933 Chevy dah holds digital gauges in a michined aluminum panel. Taillights are markers from a Chevy pick-up. Big-n-little radials mount on Halibrands. The color is custom silver. The 350 engine is a work of art. Aft is a polished, beefed PowerGlide transmsission. Jim Bialey of Lone Beach did a flawless jog on the burgundy upholstery. The steering wheel is a Nardi. Starting with a Corvette center section and J&J hub carriers, Boyd built his own independent rear, making the unique half shafts himself. The front has a six inch drop axle and Super Bell discs. Boyd also wired the car himself, but Buttera built the digital instruments. Steve Borowitz added woodgraining to the inset area of the highly modified dashboard. An aluminum gas tank rides in the bottom of the trunk. Sheetmetal work for the trunk and underside of the car was performed by Gene Sully. It's the little hand-crafted pieces like mirror bracket & headlamp mounts that make this car even more outstanding, The Silver Bullet is, and always will be, the new breed of street roadster! Will consider trades! $55,000 |
