Car Information:This car has alot of history with me although i am selling this car for a very good friend of mine .I am the one who started on the building of this car and inspired the owner to finish it. I have built these cars most of my life and have had other merc's through the years but i wanted to build one that was really cool not just another chopped Merc. Back in about 1982 a good freind of mine and one hell of a Kustom car builder ( FRANK PALMER)bought this car at PATE SWAP MEET here in TEXAS. Some may remember this car ,it was a very solid two door coupe that someone had removed the front sheetmetal and cut off the frame and stopped so there was no front frame. Well he had some storage buildings an brought it home for a future project.(no one new he had it) This was a very nice car!! In about 1989 i was driving a 51 Mercury every day call MAYBELENE ( radical chopped carson top convert) and i wanted to build a killer Merc,Now keep in mind 49-51 Mercurys were still cheap ,you could by them running nice car for 3500.00 .I had always loved the HIROHATA MERCURY and in one very old picture i found back when this car was first finished by BARRIS This car was going into a park and the RUNNING WILD MERC was behind it and there was a third Merc behind them with 54 Packard Clipper tailites in it.I cant remember the name of the owner or the car right now but i fell in love with the way that car looked except the grill .So that was my inspiration to build this car. I wanted the windows and top of the HIROHATA MERC and the rear of that third car and so one . But i could not find a really good solid car so after i search every where for the right car my friend Frank Palmer FINALLY told me about the one he had in storage and sold it to me. By 1990 Mercs had found there place again and bodys were 4500.00 he made me a great deal on the car . The tailites were impossible to find and G. Winfeild made these for me. I had Frank P.do the rear quarters and tailites and he agreed to do the windows and stuff to. Now a close freind JERRY MORRIS who was helping me with this car got cancer,we put the car on hold for about a year and he lost that battle. After that i was done with it...

Thats when my good friend Jack Helton came along and wanted to finish this car. I knew he would do it right and spare no expense (it had along way to go) He also a good friend of FRANK PALMER had him help finish the kustom work and those damn windows.

HERE is what the car has: 53 desoto grill,55 buick moulding,REAL Appleton spots,56 ford mirrors,50 ford continental kit (MODIFIED) 50 ford rear bumper w/ 56 pontiac bumper guard,51 merc front bumper,59 lancer caps front,54 pontiac w/ bullets rear caps,54 packard clipper taillights on extended quarters,49-50 ford accessory steering wheel (NOS),56 lincoln power window switch's,SOLID CHROME 49 MERC DASH w/ all new gauges,NOTE 49 merc radio restored but not hooked up still 6 volt,69 rear end,429 V/8, with C6 automatic transmission,69 nova front clip,64 T-Bird interior, POSEY springs rear, A/C,Power windows, has new elec. wiper motor but chose to not run the wiper arms/blades, rollover day/night rear veiw mirror, power steering , power brakes ,HIROHATA Merc style windows (note rear windows do not roll down),Modified hood and grill shell , 218 louvers in the hood,THIS CAR IS A TRUE LEADSLED NO BONDO, ALL WORK WAS DONE IN LEAD!!! I could go on and on EVERYTHING ON THIS CAR IS NEW,REBUILT, or NEW OLD STOCK PARTS .

This car was finally finished in 1997.He put some of himself in it like the grill ,cony kit and steering wheel and other stuff plus alot of hard work . He spent two years + a ton of money too! This was a rough start of a car when he got it from me. I could have never done as good a job as he did. It has been out only twice in all these years and has been driven only 152 miles. Car has been stored in his shop ,He starts it all the time and pulls it outside just to admire it then puts it away. NOTE he is 75 years old! not a youngster and has a devoted love to these cars. He now has had Vertigo for the last two years and cannot drive .So he has decided to sell both this one and a 1951 Ford convetible Kustom. Both cars are awsome!!

Now for the bad on this car . There are a couple of spots on the car were the lead work has very lightly like bubbled up, mostly on the rear quarters were the lower quarter was welded to the car . these are very minor and i have tried to take pictures of it as you will see. Now these spots showed up about 9 months after the car was finished ,so about two years after the quarters were done and have never changed?? Other that that the car is awsome.

I will work with you to get car shipped. Please call with any questions you may have JIM @ 817-829-0569
