Car Information: | V8 Motor with Automatic Transmission Gold with Saddle Interior First of all, I am NOT a dealer! I enjoy collecting cars and often end up with more than I can handle! This particular car was for personal use. I searched for a one owner vehicle in near perfect condition for my wife to drive instead of her SUV. The Lexus coupe was a favorite because I had purchased a new one in 1992 and thoroughly enjoyed it for three years.
This car was a one owner from Arizona and spent its entire life there until I purchase it 2 months ago. I ran a carfax and it verified the one owner status. I had the Lexus dealer run a complete maintenance history on the car. The car is truly an outstanding car. The gold exterior and saddle interior are striking! It has the "Gold Package", consisting of gold emblems, tail pipe and center inserts in the chrome wheels. Tires are about 80%. I have both remote access keys to the car.
When the car arrived, I took it to the Lexus dealer for a thorough inspection. Because there was moisture present in the headlight assemblies (a common problem with the earlier coupes), I had them both replaced at a cost of over $950. The only other thing it needs is a switch for the outside rearview mirrors, but they can be set manually and it was not a problem for us.
The exterior is outstanding. There is a small (2 inch) touch up on the rear bumper which can barely be seen. The rubber under the front bumper has a tear on the passenger side - obviously from hitting a parking space concrete bumper. (Those who drive these cars, Porches, and others with low hanging bumpers know to avoid such dilemmas!) No dents, all seams line up as they should, no fading of the clear coat. All in all, the car looks brand new!
The interior is equally impressive. There is virtually no wear on the leather seats except for a small strange two inch tear at the top of the back seat (easily repaired for minimal cost. The dash, carpet, gauges, and headliner are excellent and show no wear. All lights work, the radio is outstanding along with the factory 6 CD changer. Everything works with no issues. I have put sheepskin covers on the front seats and they are in perfect condition. See photo of driver's seat.
Why Am I Selling The Car? My wife drove the car for two weeks and finally admitted to me that the arthritis in her knees bothers her as she enters and exits this coupe. She prefers the RX300 she has been driving for a few years. {You will see from my feedback that I purchased a 1995 Mercedes S Class to replace the Lexus Coupe but got a bad deal from a Texas dealer and sold the car within a few days}. I will probably buy my wife a new RX330.
This particular model is fast becoming a collector's item. I have seen other Lexus coupes sell for more than $15,000 on Ebay and at dealers. As for mileage, it is interesting to study the history of Lexus cars. We have always believed that Mercedes vehicles can easily go 300 - 400,000 miles without serious issues but the history of Lexus only goes back to 1990 with the introduction of the LS400. I have seen many of these cars with in excess of 200,000 miles still "purring" as they did ten years ago! The mileage on this SC400 coupe, at 139,000, reflects a yearly average of about 12,000 miles per year. The fact that it has never seen snow or probably not even temperatures below 40 degrees is significant!
In summary, this car is exception. I would keep it as it escalates in value as a collector's choice, but I simply have no room to keep it indoors. My Reserve is set at what I have invested in the car.
