Kingfisher blue with Black Interior
If you're looking for a prime example of a Series II, this is the
car for you. It has accumulated all of its 112k miles in
California; the last 9 years/25k miles with me (3rd owner).
Originally primrose yellow, I spent $3.5k on a complete color
change to Kingfisher Blue metallic (XJS color). Outboard
headlights were converted back to the proper European 7".
Factory splash guards and stainless steel wheel arch moldings
protect the paint. Windows are tinted light smoke on the sides,
medium on the rear. The small cat hood ornament was added to
complete the classic look.
On the inside, a complete GW Bartlett black leather interior kit
was added. Pleat style is narrow with perforated leather. Front
door finishers were upgraded to XJ12 style with carpet and chrome
trim adjacent to the speakers. Four new Peerless polyproplene
speakers have been added to the Blauplunkt am/fm/cassette and
equalizer.
In the trunk, the rusted ventilation assembly and worn trunk
hinges were replaced and a GW Bartlett trunk kit added.
Mechanical items new or rebuilt include: front end, brakes,
shocks, windshield wiper motor, Stromberg carburetors(manual
chokes), air injection pump, water pump, radiator, rear mufflers,
engine and transmission mounts. A new set of 4 Michelin XGT
215/65VR15 tires have less than 100 miles. Other upgrades
include conversion to GM 95 amp alternator, Jacobs electronic
ignition, custom reinforced engine mount brackets, and urethane
steering rack bushings.
Priced to enjoy at $6,500. Yes, there others for less, but it
wold be difficult to find another that rides, drives, and looks
as good as this one.
